indeed cycling is the most effective way to save money. as is walking.
i plan to keep oars on our dingy as well, no need to motor all the time.

i would probably be a greeny, but my IQ does not allow me to believe in climate change caused by humans, i also enjoy eating animal flesh.

The median wait time in Canada to see a special physician is a little over four weeks with 89.5% waiting fewer than 90 days.[53]
The median wait time for diagnostic services such as MRI and CAT scans [54] is two weeks with 86.4% waiting fewer than 90 days.[53]
The median wait time for surgery is four weeks with 82.2% waiting fewer than 90 days.[53]
Another study by the Commonwealth Fund found that 57% of Canadians reported waiting 30 days (4 weeks) or more to see a specialist,[page needed] broadly in line with the current official statistics. A quarter (24%) of all Canadians waited 4 hours or more in the emergency room.[55][page needed]

I pay taxes. I vote. That's 'skin'. Tax is the thesis of scoobert's little tantrum is it not?

If you're still a Canadian citizen, you have choices. Not my fault what system you've chosen.

If the long-form psuedo-spelling of BS causes people's pinafores to flutter, then why was this sort of OP, which is intellectual profanity to anyone with a clue, permitted to go on? (Mods?)

Honestly, I'm not certain that scoobert's expressing his real feelings, or just having us on. Given his earlier declaration of having an IQ of 182, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt, and conclude that this thread is the result of an egregious troll, for his Sunday afternoon amusement. And we fell for it. Well-played, sir. Well-played.

There is simply not enough cheese for all this "Whine"

Getting ready to head south for winter # 7. Just spent lots of money on the boat. Wise investment if you factor in the cost of mental health.

I agree with you, and I would think that this would be a good goal to reach. But, why doesn't society make it easier for us to live the way you are?

I have water bills ($400/year), gas bills ($300-$400/year), HOA fees ($800/year) in addition to all the taxes. Not that I am complaining against taxes, just that they should be used in a different way, and the fees I pay don't benefit me very much.

You have a point . GST a new one to us in recent times , now up to 5%. Income tax a flat 20% for people (those under £17k / $25k pay little to no tax ). Companies at 0%. No Capital Gains or Inheritance Taxes. No national debt and the public sector (and retirement) pensions are fully funded (i.e. have Funds with actual cash & investments in them - not Govt IOU's, at least not from ours!).

Anyone that doesn't favor public education clearly doesn't have a clue about how societies work. In your model, no police, not schools, no public roads, how will there be any economic activity. Might work in Montana, but a white guy won't last a week in New York.
We have all those funded (by us) via the Govt, plus NHS style "free" Healthcare, plus unemployment & sick benefit (all of which I am in favour of - as are most sane people, no matter their political leanings....albeit the centre ground here would likely be called the Tea Party in the USA ). Admittedly we have to pay for GP appointments, although subsidised. No poor Doctors in Jersey!

TBH, it's pretty nice here . and we can even have guns (although most don't - why would you bother when your neighbour is not going to eat you? ).

Admittedly one of the savings we make is on the legal system when it comes to Kiddy Fiddling - but to be fair, that mostly a hobby of our lords and masters...........

I reckon we could drop those property bills and the income tax rate by half - but then we would live in a really sh#tty place (visually and socially). and why would we want to do that?

i have a huge issue with how my taxes are spent. including a large portion to spy on.... me. then there is the portion that is spent on killing babys, the portion that pays for sex changes, the portion for genocide, the portion for buying trips for the prez, the portion wasted on researching improbable things, the portion spent on welfare, the portion spent on legal battles that are worthless, the portion spent to oppress people, ECT.

Re: WE, are not slaves.

Scoobert, take your boat to Cambodia and see what happens when you don't have a government. People in this country have no idea how lucky they are. I used to rant and rave the same way you do but then I went somewhere.

I love paying taxes. I love roads, schools, electricity. So do you, just don't know it, I don't see any solar panels or wind generators on that apocalypse machine of yours.

I live aboard too and recognize that the US future may not be as safe as everyone thinks it is. But dude you just sound bitter (you also sound like you've had too much red wine). Why not enjoy the things your inflated taxes provide you while you receive them?

It looks like you've only been living aboard since the start of the summer. Why don't you spend a few years aboard before you call everyone else a "slave" when it seems as though you yourself were in their shoes not long ago.

I find your pontificating racially offensive on two fronts. There are people on this forum who have slavery in their familial lineage. They know what slavery is. You do not.

You are also making the assumption that the land you own, you deserve. As others have mentioned the US government stole the land you claim as yours from Native Americans. The tone of entitlement in your first post is ridiculous.

That's how you come off dude, entitled.
