Re: Seriously Considering Living Aboard in NYC and Need Advice

Thanks guys! I actually work right near the WTC, so it's about a 20-30 min commute from either liberty landing or liberty harbor according to google maps. Thus I think Liberty Landing is pretty reasonable for me - I'll ask about whether the ferry is seasonal.

OK that is perfect - the PATH stops right at the WTC area - sweet!

Hi Ladyvee,
I am in Manhattan too and I am considering like you to liveaboard in Liberty Landing or Liberty Harbor Marina.
I have not yet started to research the area but are you still entertaining the idea? If yes, did you find any info?
Thank you.

Re: Seriously Considering Living Aboard in NYC and Need Advice

I've been researching the various marinas along the NJ side of the Hudson since I'm in the same boat (pun intended) as Ladyvee...considering making the jump into a liveaboard. I was curious about Newport Yacht Club & Marina in Jersey City. It's practically right at the PATH in downtown Newport with plenty of restaurants and the Newport Mall steps away. Anyone have experience or insight on the marina?

I stayed there several days after my ill fated attempt to join the Reid Stowe welcoming flotilla:

Yes, It is a great location except there is a bit of rock and roll in the mornings and afternoons from the commuter ferries. Other than that it is a great location. Path Train to Manhattan just a few minutes walk away. Great supermarket and other stores just as close. Including a liquor store that's even open on Sundays. I make it my primary provisioning stop when passing through New York Harbor. Even had a herb garden outside the marina office when I was there. Great for those sailors like me who like to cook on board. Great view of Manhattan too(see last photo in above link).
