Is it acceptable (other than security concerns) to leave the boat anchored for a week or so, unattended?
This is a 66'x33' cat so even if I was willing to pay the fees it will likely not fit in some marinas

It depends. Some places have good shelter and holding and if you’re sure the anchor is well set (set it well, have been in place a few days) you can risk leaving it for a few days. That’s a personal choice.

Some spots have longer term “residents” in the anchorage who if you get to know may be willing to look after your boat.

Other places have well maintained moorings at a reasonable cost.

I’ve done all of the above. It’s a matter circumstance and using good judgement. And of course planning ahead so you’ve got an acceptable solution worked out for when you need to leave.
