I live aboard in Washington DC. It is very hard to find a marina around here that will allow this. There is a lot of "wink-wink, nudge-nudge" involved and you usually end up paying a transient rate for an unlimited transient stay. Be careful who you talk to about this. Never admit to the Harbor Police or to the Park Service that you live aboard. Those people are not your friends. As for the Winter, I thought the last one would never end. I was sick in mid-February and stuck on the boat through a blizzard. You will burn through a propane bottle every two weeks. Also, you will need a good dehumidifier or the condensation will ruin everything, including your books, clothes and charts. I am not eager to go through that again and may go south in the Fall.
