For what it's worth, the Pacific Side of Honduras is another story. We left Mexico, Puerto Chiapas a few months ago with our next stop in Honduras-Golfo de Fonseca- Isla del Tigre the little town of Amapala.

Anchored off the muncipal dock, the Navy came in a panga with 3 armed guys aboard for a quick routine control. Like everywhere in Mexico they were polite and courteos and the whole deal took bout 5 minutes wherupon they told us to enjoy our stay and that the town was celebrating their annual 5 days 'Ferie' or fiesta and we did really enjoy it.

They wanted to board us when we closed in on the dock, under sail in a fresh breeze, so I told them to wait until I had dropped the hook and asked them for the best place to anchor.

The following mornng we rowed ashore. The Capitania and Immigration is right on the dock, very freindly people and the whole procedure took about 15 minutes and was FREE of charge including internationall zarpe when we departed.

Amapala has an interesting history too, since it used to be he main port on the Pacific coast for Honduras.

BTW, the Sarana guide mentioned earlier in this thead DOES include Costa Rica but just a few spots in western Panama
