Actual Source to Read About Cruising and Liveaboard

Hello,

I am looking for actual reports about cruising and liveaboard on a catamaran in the caribbean.

The internet is full, I know. But I can't find an actual report on where to anchor, costs, repairs, etc. plus a nice route to spend 2 years on the boat. I could imagine myself cruising an island for some time, then sail to the next. Unfortunately my budget is pretty limited, so better to know upfront.

Thanks to everybody.
And a great 2012.

Get copies of Chris Doyles cruising guides for the Leewards and Windwards, and Nancy Scott's for the Virgin Islands. You'll find just about everything you need to know to comfortably cruise the entire chain, from St Thomas down to Grenada. Check out the various islands in the "Countries" section of Noonsite: The global site for cruising sailors, as well. It doesn't really matter if you have a catamaran or monohull, the anchorages, services, and attractions are essentially the same.

West Indies are pretty close to everywhere there. So probably go to a spot you think you might like and then when fed up, or if you find it too expensive, move on. Part of the beauty of it is discovering things as you go rather than planning everything way up front.

Get Doyle's cruising guides, current ones. We found them a reliable source of how/when/what/where.

Bon voyage!

If you go to sailblogs.com and click on the map feature, then zoom in on the area you are interested in, you will find a lot of blogs to read.
