Virginia to SAN jUAN

I have never been into San Juan and am going to be heading that direction in November. The catch is I have a Mom,Dad and kid as my crew so I know I am going to be tired and beat by the time I get to the entrance.SO I thought to ask if there were any things to watch out for on the entrance.I t seems wide open, but I would appreciate if anyone who has been in there to comment on anything for as I said I know I am going to be one tired pup when I get there and that is when mistakes can happen out of the blue. The boat is a Valiant40' so I am not worried about the rig.New sails, new navagation, new autopilot,140 gallons of fuel.....
Thanks for any comments......
