Here's one more reason Great Lakes sailors are some of the worlds' toughest. In 4 more weeks the annual haulouts will begin to occur. Not because we want to but because the water will begin getting stiff. Yes the annual snow up to a tall giraffes ear lobes will soon be here. Having your boat high and dry for six months is definitely tough when you would rather be sailing. Ahh ha ha ha ha. See what I did there? I kill me sometimes.

Haulout begin?

Last weekend it was 90 F with 20kt winds and the boats were closed up! Virtually no boats on the lake at all.

Haulout has already begun; most that remain will do so empty.

I'll be out there, see you on the water, bumpy or not.

Definitely be out there for many weeks more. The marina will give me the boot on the lease Oct 15. Bumpy last weekend but I had the west end pretty much to myself. They can have my boat when they pry the tiller from my cold dead hands.
