Spanish language soap operas on TV are another way to become immersed in the visual as well as audio components of the language. The plots are elemental, the enunciation is clear, and the action helps pull you into trying to understand when you lack specific vocabulary. The other side of learning a language is getting over the fear of "screwing up". You have to actively engage in one-on-one communications. Use Spanish with the staff at a Mexican restaurant, ask directions to some place from someone on the street, or the most entertaining and effective way to learn quickly, find a lover who forces you to communicate in their native language.
