Long-Term Brooklyn Marina

Hello everyone.

I'd like to get some feedback on any good marinas or yacht clubs around or convenient to Brooklyn (Park Slope). Perhaps within an hours drive or near a train? This if not for a weekend trip, I'm looking for full season plus winter haul out and dry storage. I'd consider CT or NJ, but ideally i'd love to find a small old school brooklyn club.

I don't need a super fancy spot, just something safe and secure, a sense of community and parking. Good value (I have heard the LI sound gets nutty cash wise for a slip). I could do a mooring or a slip, guess it depends on cost and possible launch service.

Boat will be 28-35 foot, lets assume 5' draft or thereabouts. I would be open to narrowing my search to something with a shoal draft or a center board if someone knows of an amazing place that would require less draft. This will be our first sailboat in NY, and I'd like to have a marina in mind before I make a purchase.

Just for interests sake, we are looking at the following: Pearson 10m or 323. Catalina 30, or a Cal or Triton. Something good for 4-5 person fun cruises to Martha's Vinyard and Nantucket. Overnights in little coves with bar-b-q and some cold ones. A good old boat seems the right fit. I'm happy to hear any personal experience/recommendations with any of these models.

Thanks for any help!

You might want to have a look at the Venice Marina in Sheepshead Bay

I did a large restoration project at the Venice Marina in 2008. David was the manager at the time. As outside contractors they treated us very well, good luck.

Marine Basin Marina
1900 Shore Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11214-6699
(718) 372-5700

Take the D Train to Bay Parkway, walk about 1/2 mile to Gravesend bay. Entrance is at the south corner of Adventurers Inn (I think that's the name) playground.

Services: slips, electric, fuel, a shower, two toilets, and they can haul boats 25 ft and under. No ice, no pump out, no store. This is a bare bones marina.
