Cheapest Newport Beach California Haul-out for repairs

Hi

I am cruising on a shoe string, and need to haul out my 26ft boat for rudder repairs and new bottom paint in Newport Beach, California. Anyone know a really cheap yard to haul-out and do repairs in this area that doesn't cater to the wealthy??

I'll need to stay on the boat while doing the repairs.

THANKS

I too am on a shoe string and is I can't get out of here (Washington State) under sail this summer I am going to have my boat trucked down to Calif (not as expensive as you might think). I am looking for the least expensive place with a travel lift that can also step a mast. The further north the less the trucking fee. My boat is 30' with a 5' draft so I don't mind some dinky little marina up river somewhere.

Re: Cheapest Newport Beach California Haul-out for repairs

I do not recall the name, but I just looked at Google maps and it is still there. 21st St and Balboa there is a small yard with a very old crane for small boats and was the best option between Newport and Dana Point for SMALL boats at the time. Last time I was there was in the 90's, so may not be the case today, but something to check out if you are in Newport now. If you can get up to LA Harbor, your options are better. Let us know if it is still in operation, they were always good to us.
