I prepare to buy a boat in the US for USD60,000.- and import the boat back to Vancouver BC. The makes of the boat is either Carver or Bayliner. Please advise if I need to pay tax when importing the boat to Canada. These boats are made in the US and under the free trade agreement, GST/HST are not required. Thanks.

Free trade agreement covers Duty .... you most certainly will be hit with HST.

As JD1 says, NAFTA covers import duty exemption; however sales tax(es) will be due upon application for registration.
