Mooring balls in Drakes bay Ca

So, who owns these and what happens to you if you tie up to one? One appears to be Coast guard but the other close to an old pier has no markings
Thanks for any help.

Re: Mooring balls in Drakes bay Ca

I've always felt that tieing up to a mooring that belonged to someone else would be a bad idea.
Not to mention that the mooring ball might be attached to something like a concrete block or a crab trap rather than an actual mooring.

If it doesn't belong to you or you haven't made an arrangement with the owner of the mooring, leave it alone.

I do not. However, you might get some information from the CG's Life Boat Station at Drakes Bay, assuming it's still in operation. You might also check with some of the fishing boat operators in Tomalas Bay. There used to be a few operating out of both Marshall and Inverness and they might have the information you need.

FWIW...

PS: I would be reluctant to pick up a mooring unless I knew what it's capacity was in any case.
