Cell phone Service in Canada

I will be sailing into Canada from the San Juan Islands mid July, and up the
Inside Passage to Alaska and back thru the end of August.

what is the BEST way to get Cell Phone Service while doing that?

Verizon Tells me they do not have service in Canada and I should look into getting a Canadian Cell Service provider.

Verizon does not have service but they have agreements with Telus, Bell and others to allow you to roam on their towers. For $5 per day Verizon will let roam on a per day basis. So when you are not getting any service which is often turn your phone to airplane mode to save money. If your phone connects even for a minute they charge you for the whole day so use judiciously.

T-Mobile has a Canada/US plan, works great.
Lot of places on that route has no coverage btw.
