Buying in Mexico Redux

I was wondering if there were any first hand accounts of a US citizen buying down there since the impound fiasco. There are some FSBO US boats down there which have a good price but the entire situation would make me nervous. I'm guessing a broker would take care of the legal stuff if it was their boat but what about a sale using just the principals? Or is the legal ramifications just too questionable?

Re: Buying in Mexico Redux

You may have been missing the reason for the fiasco. The goons who did the checking didn't know anything about boats (short story). This had nothing to do with buying or selling boats down there.

I suggest you wander around the Latitude 38 website, specially 'Lectronic Latitude. The whole site is searchable, which also includes letters to the editor. You will most likely find information about just your question.

Good luck.

Thaks Stu. I was actively reading 38 and other sites when all of that stuff was happening. I was wondering how easy (or difficult) buying one there is now?

BTW I still read most issues of Lat 38.
