Re: Worst Boat Bottom - Pics

This is our worst. Algae in the boat basin on the south facing side. Scrubbed once mid-season. The north side is nearly clean. The slimy stuff helps you go faster.

Re: Worst Boat Bottom - Pics

The other day a NW gale blew the water out of the bay, we sat on the bottom and got a peek at the top 8" or so of hull. It look GREAT after two years.

Then again, we sit in a funny spot with fresh water on top of salt. I may have a barnacle farm starting two feet down. I've seen that kind of thing happen here before.

Finally another member exposing himself. So far I'm the only member with his bottom exposed...

And if that's the worst you ever got you are hauling too frequently - LOL...

You might be surprised at how many times customers and others have told me this in all seriousness.

I hear that stepping on a crack breaks your mother's back.

To explain it in really simple terms, usually the best. Consider the moss on my boat. It traps and carries a layer of water abut 0.1 inch thick. Even ignoring the turbulance, that amounts to several hundred pounds of water being dragged along. The turbulance and boundary layer issues are far worse but more difficult to explain. When we raced, a bottom scrubbing happened every Saturday AM.
