Window screen to cover a sliding window

My boat has many sliding glass windows. 6 sets total with no screening.
I was thinking of making a small wood frame and monel stapling some screening onto this, then somehow attaching the screen into the space.

There used to be window screens at this location but the metal long ago disintegrated.

I was going to start with the lower cabin which has two long narrow windows.
cut some 1/2 by 1/2 inch pieces of treated wood and give that a try.

Has anyone made their own screens?

I like the wide open windows not restricting air, but was thinking an overnighter could be bad with bugs.

Re: Window screen to cover a sliding window

We have large sliding windows on our trawler and just make covers from Phifertex and snap them in place over the frames. The other windows are covered with Sunbrella. Chuck

I am sure you have already decided what you are going to do. I just now saw this. I used EzySnap on my windows EZ-Snap Exterior Shades & Outdoor Blinds. There is a definite decrease in heat with the screen and they are easily removed if needed. I can take a picture is you want to see what they look like.
