When to install Thru-hulls?

And yes, I know "before you re-launch."

So we're taking the hulls (below waterline) down to fiberglass due to some cosmetic blistering all throughout the gelcoat layer. After any fiberglass repairs are addressed, we will fill and fair with an epoxy system and then apply an epoxy based barrier coat (Interprotect 2000 or similar). On top of the barrier coat we will apply Coppercoat bottom paint.

At which point should we install the new thru-hulls? I'm thinking after the barrier coat is applied, so that there will be protection under the lip of mushroom heads, but would love to hear the thoughts of others.

Cheers- Matt

Re: When to install Thru-hulls?

That's what I did..after the barrier went on/before the paint. Look for minaret's postings concerning his refit a couple years back. It provided all the info I needed to do a very competent DIY job after the peel.
