West Florida Boatyards...

Hi, We are returning to the US from 8 years of cruising in the Caribbean and need a list of some inexpensive boatyards on the "west side" of Florida. We would like the kind of yard where we can do our own work if we want to. Any help you can provice would be appreciated.... thanks Ken & Becky svpolaris@yahoo.com

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Ken & Becky.

Good luck in finding a DIY yard on the Fla Gulf coast.

Take a look at:

Bob and Anne's on Pine Island near Ft Myers. Also, I think All american is in Port Charlotte, not Englewood.

Salt Creek boatyard is the only DIY yard I know of in the St Pete area. I have done a refit there. Be wary of their service people but if you do your own work you should be fine there.

Lighthouse Yacht Services, full service or DYS. Call Anthony at 727.937.0327 or cell 727.460.2512. Tell him Hobart refered you. I am DYS at his floating docks redoing a fly bridge deck now.

Tarpon Springs. Get ready for great Greek food.

Yards on west coat of FL

Has anyone had experience with Progressive Marine Service boat yard in St Pete? Do you have knowledge of their work? Sail or power? Their quote for a job is about half of the tow others that i have gotten: one in FL and one in MD. Thanks in advance.
