Walbro Diesel Pump Rebuild

Rebuilding a discontinued Walbro pump. I will post pictures as I go. It will take a couple nights, as I have to work and commute.

Fisheries Supply in Seattle has a baffle kit for $5. Given that the new pump model is $130, I can see no reason not to try the kit. I have never done anything like this. I searched the forum and found nothing in the actual rebuild. So here we go.

Tonight I had to hit Sears for a couple tools. Heading home now to begin the removal.

Any and all helpful hints, side bar chuckles, and amusing anecdotes are welcome.

The instructions are pretty clear. I am trying to lay everything out in order. Good thing there is a picture.

I simply reassembled in reverse. Watch for a 3rd little nylon washer to come falling out. It is not mentioned in the instructions.

Are you kidding me? Exactly 1 hour since I put it on the bench, it is back together. Does it work? Dunno. I am out of time, for tonight. Reinstall tomorrow.

OK, I hooked up the wires and hit the switch, nothing. I really have to go to bed. Trouble shoot tomorrow night.

Upon review, I think I see what I did wrong. A little tinkering and adjusting tomorrow night. Hopefully I just saved myself $125.

In another thread, a forum member, Chuck, mentioned a screen. The screen is internal from the fuel inlet barb. I inspected visually and deem it clean and clear. But I could not actually access it.

bobby...what do you use the pump for? an oil stove, engine ful pump, i have 2 of those pumps for sale...one new, 2nd one slightly used...i changed my system, and don`t need them...cheep too!...live in port orchard, wa...clyde

Clyde, I use it for my diesel heater and to fill the Racor.

IT WORKS!

Last night I read the diagram wrong and put part of the electrical circuit inside the pump housing.
