Suggestions for removing old tape

Due to unforeseen circumstances I have left Scotch Green tape on for 6 weeks through lots of sun, rain, and dew.Of course, I’m having trouble removing it from a painted fiberglass deck and varnished wood work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.👍

Goo-Gone.

Great stuff, and in the larger containers, quite reasonable in cost. A lot less flammable than naphtha (lighter fluid)

3M Adhesive Remover sounds like a good option. I should add that the tape masked off Interlux Perfection, which is a 2 part polyurethane and I need to be careful not to harm the finish...

Painters tell me that the 3 m is photochemically reactive

Whatever that means

Hence don’t let the stuff burn in the bright sun

Work in shade or a cool place

A quick acetone wipe shouldn't damage it.

Don’t use Acetone! It will damage your paint surface.

Re: Suggestions for removing old tape

Awlgrip and Perfection are almost the same. This is from the Awlgrip application guide:
"Solvents such as Awl-Prep-T0008, Awl-Prep Plus-T0115 (or T0340 Surface Cleaner in Europe), Awl-Prep 400-T0170, toluene, lacquer thinner, M.E.K., acetone, or kerosene may be used to soften or remove heavy build up of grease and grime, felt tip markings, or aerosol spray paint on the Awlgrip Topcoat."

Re: Suggestions for removing old tape

we recently used WD-40 on my friends boat at the advice of another sailor friend for some badly stuck on velcro adhesive, worked perfectly. I have used kerosene and mineral spirits on sensitive plastics before with no ill effect. Just need to let it soak in a little.

Re: Suggestions for removing old tape

I used a 22 year old nephew with a razor blade at $15/hr. It took him 12 hours to remove the tape on my toe rail I left on for way too long.

Years ago ---a popular vinyl manufacturer recommended Windex. A neighbor once told me they used Hair spays to remove all most any thing from drapes in homes. Never know.
