Scheel Keel

I recently had my boat blasted to prep for a new bottom job. I have a scheel keel on a Tartan 33. There are two distinct lines across the keel - one which is obviously the glass the keel joint and the other is approximately 4 inches below it - it tracks from the back of the keel on both sides to the front - I am concerned that this may be a failure in the keel.

Does anyone on here have any experience with scheel keels?

you can see it below the hull to keel joint here on the stern - this is prior to removal of the anti-foul coating

Aloha

You should post this on the tartan owners group over on yahoo. There are several long time T-33 owners there

I will dig through some photos to see if my 33 has the same line.

Welcome to the small club of T-33 owners.

Re: Scheel Keel

I'd be thinking that'd be a good query for a surveyor. That, & also to contact Tartan about.
Plus, regardless, if you've got the coin, it wouldn't hurt to X-ray things.

FYI, there was another Scheel Keel thread on here within the last week. So there may be more resources available via that thread & those who posted in it.

Tim

I am a Facebook dropout. Way to many privacy issues on FB!
