Salon Upholstery - Before & After

Hey there!

Erika and I have been working on our boat S/V Cerulean for 2 months to update the salon and aft cabin interior with new upholstery and varnish. We wanted to share the before and after photos of the salon with everyone

Erika honestly did most of the work on the upholstery - looks good right? Total cost with labor $1400 (she's quite a negotiator too IMHO).

Will throw together a post on the salon, aft cabin, galley varnishing before and after too (when I get a moment to dig up photos).

Check out the progress on:http://svcerulean.com

Best,
Jer & Erika

'a beautiful job and a bold move to use white. I guess this means no pets or children. What is the fabric used? Do the covers come off for cleaning or are they permanently sewn?

It's Vinyl - wipes clean vey easily (so far) - we typically trow a blanket over for our pup! No kids yet

White was a bold choice, but brightened up the salon to our liking!

Your new upholstery is very nice Having everything under your own control is priceless. Just had mine done , two weeks turned into 9 weeks and I had to bribe my contractor to get it done before a trip

Love the red what a great splash of color! We actually had a hard time deciding between earth vs sky tones too accent vs colors and combo's...

It's a personal choice and worst case: replace if you don't love the color. Change can be a very positive experience (even if only colors around you!)

Great pics...

I have to laugh! - because my upholstery is red.

and I would prefer to change it to some sort of beige .

Thanks - the boat is a '82 so there are lots we want to upgrade, just have to be patient.

We bought the Amel Maramu for its bones and great CC layout - just tackling the myriad of projects one by one and trying not to feel overwhelmed in the process :S

What we've learned: another owners idea of 'New' or 'replaced' varies greatly with our own, and can be subjective (LOL). So be patient...

The good news is its a marathon, not a sprint in our minds - tackling the most used portions of the boat, and focusing on what items will improve our boating experience = have personal impact is our simple way of using a matrix to determine what is needed vs wanted.

Just sharing our methodology we mainly sail together as a couple, so we only need to impress ourselves!
