Refrig/Freezer Mounting evaporator

I am fitting a new Isotherm evaporator in a modified ice box (added 2 - 4 inches of foam insulation) I bent the thin flat evaporator to the box dimensions, now I need to know can I drill additional mounting holes along the edge of the evaporator? There are only 4 holes pre-drilled and none of them are well placed. I do not think the evaporator will be secured well enough if I only use the 4 holes provided.

Thanks In advance

Re: Refrig/Freezer Mounting evaporator

I had the same issue and asked the same question when I mounted my Frigoboat evaporator. Is you evaporator made by bonding two sheets of aluminum together, leaving channels between the sheets for the Freon to flow? That is how the Frigoboat is made.

I asked this question of Frigoboat and the answer was yes you can drill, BUT. If you drill well away from the Freon channels then 99.9% certain there will be no problem BUT strictly speaking you aren't supposed to drill holes in the evaporator and it could possible void the warranty..... or not?

Yup, same design. I would be drilling well away from the channels. Thanks for the reply.
