Propane refill in Japan

I want to be able to refill my propane tanks here in Japan and have purchased a POL - 1/4 MPT hose assembly (in Canada). I noticed the POL fitting has a restricted opening. Would there be any issue with drilling out the POL fitting to allow a better flow rate?

Re: Propane refill in Japan

I had to refill my propane in Cuba from a bigger (full) tank using a makeshift hose from a BBQ and drilled out the flow restrictor hole.

Worked fine for me.

p.s. Don't do this at home, kids !

Re: Propane refill in Japan

Just found out that the propane tank fitting used here in Japan is compatible with my tanks from the US/Canada. They were a little leery about the aluminum & FRP tank but with a little cajoling they filled them both. We were lucky in that there was a very experienced propane guy on hand who lamented the outdated standards in Japan that requires steel tanks.
