mounting plate for V-berth hatch

I am going to install a Lewmar Ocean hatch (size 60) on my Vancouver 32 as a replacement for my old V-berth hatch (Canpa). The size of the opening is slightly larger than the mounting holes in the Lewmar, so I am planning on having a mounting plate made which will bolt onto the deck opening and then the hatch will. Any suggestions for this project? Has anyone had to do this on their boat?

Thanks for any info -
