How about putting a line between keel and rudder?
I was wondering if a line between the trailing edge of the keel and the lowest point on the leading edge of the rudder would prevent lines getting to the prop? Even if it just helped them slide away most of the time.

There's an idea. My rudder is held on with gudgeons on the transom, so a line attached to the front bottom may give it some added support.
