Ideas for temporary nav light lens

My port (red) navigation light lens broke and melted around the bulb. It's an old Perko dome shaped fixture. I've ordered a new port and strbd set but in the meantime I need to have lights. I'm trying to figure a way to make a temporary red lense. Any ideas on a material that wouldn't melt?

Red tape from auto store? The one for temporary fixing break lights? Just an idea.

Re: Ideas for temporary nav light lens

I thought of the tape but was afraid the heat would be too much. I went to home depot and bought a flat trailer light lens. I cut it, smoothed the edges and laid it on the floor. I heated the piece gently with a torch so it would shape to the contour of the domed housing. Once it cooled I mixed up a dab of epoxy to glue it in place...good to go!

I was gonna suggest running to the nearest Target or WalMart and finding a plastic drinking glass of the right sort of general shade, and cutting that to fit.

The drinking glass idea is a good one. That would have worked too I think.

We lost the red/green lens and scrambled around for "proper" lights. We ended up using a red LED flashlight and green glowsticks AND a careful watch on radar.
