I Moved and Need a New Place to Get Injectors Pop Tested and Cleaned - Help !

Hello C.F. folks,
I recently relocated -me and the boat, to the Chesapeake Bay area. Mobjack Bay, Mathews Va.
I am in need have of my injectors pop tested and cleaned after a long motoring trip up the I.C.W. from Savannah Ga.
When in Sav I used an Testmaster for this and rebuild work on the I.P. and W.W.Detriot Williams for other Yanmar realted orders.
p.s. not employed by either co. then or now.

Now that I am up here, who do you use for this type of work? injector cleaning...
Thank you in advance, David

Re: injectors pop testing & cleaned~in new area

David:

Savannah to Mathews on Mobjack Bay really isn't that much of a trip to foul your injectors. Maybe 100 hours or so.

Have you tried running the engine at near WOT (about 200 rpm off of top) for an hour or so to really heat her up, blow out soot and burn off carbon from the injector tips. This has worked for me on a pair of 3gm30f Yanmar's on a cat.

But I have had Yanmar injectors pop and spray tested by Bayshore Marine in Annapolis. For all I know they use a general diesel injector shop to do the work. And FWIW it isn't worth having them rebuilt. I think it saves $25 on a $125 injector to rebuild versus replace.

Re: I Moved and Need a New Place to Get Injectors Pop Tested and Cleaned - Help !

I will run at WOT over the next couple of days. I was thinking it may be fouled ejectors were the clulprit of the white smoke/exhaust. Nigel Calder says "White smolke is caused by water vapor in the exhaust or by totally unburned fuel, but atomized fuel...or possibly a leaky head gasket, cracked head, cracked cylender allowing the water into the combustion chamber. Or air in the fuel supply. I found a dripping Primary fuel filter housing to tighten up.
I am hoping it is not the cracked variety of problems. after typing I realize, "atomized fuel" means the injector is working... Thanks again djmarchand.

Send me a PM and perhaps I can help since I live near Mathews (given no place is really close to Mathews).
