Re: Hull painting with Roller and Tipping

Despite the heat, I've finished the toe rail.

Now for just two more coats of bottom primer, and then the four coats of anti foul.

Well the hot weather is slowing everything up. I'm hoping this weekend I'll finish all the painting and ready for the anti foul, for the following weekend. Then it can go in the water. fingers crossed.

Best of luck on the launch. Nothing like getting back on the water.

Very interesting. What sort of vane are you planning to connect to it? H or V?

Looks lovely. Very rich colours, seems a shame the fish will get most of the benefit of the copper colour, but the topsides look lovely. Is the green in the photo accurate or did the combination of a digital camera and a web palette modify it significantly?

P.S. Just reading Dijkstra's Self-Steering for yachts at the moment, I reckon he documents your exact rudder and trim tab setup on page 31, system D. There seem to be endless ways of controlling that setup, it is by far the simplest to make work well.

Nice.. should last a lot lot lot longer than the **** job a Maltese Yard did for the PO on mine 3 months before I got her.. one 10week trip from Malta to Portugal (8 weeks of which was repairing/replacing other Maltese repairs in 3 countries along the way [total costs around 12,000 euros].. and then sitting at a pontoon for a further 7mths.. the 'New' paint has disappeared in several places and the previous light blue is showing it was of a better standard of work.
From what I can see they just slapped one coat on with no prep and Definitely no undercoat.. mind.. only to be expected as the AF job they did was a rip off as well..
That's the price/consequence of commissioning work from 7,000miles away and not being there to oversee.. you'll get ripped off every time. some will even try it to your face.
Caution to anyone getting work done in Malta.. be ON SITE.
And even then they'll have a good try..
