Re: Future Brown Water Cruiser: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit

Inertia's a funny thing...tough to slow down a juggernaut!

Although, you know...you could be pulled along by the wash. Next thing you know, you'll start noticing all those cracks in your gelcoat and feel compelled to do something about it!

"does the 240 fit on the boat??"

It's still in pieces in the garage, so...yeah, I suppose I could put it onboard part by part if I was really bored. The chassis could straddle the bow deck.

Re: Future Brown Water Cruiser: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit

We're getting ready for a big, dusty weekend sanding Awl Quik. My bow seat hatch for the propane locker should arrive today. I've also got to get some welding done before we do the final prime coat on the hull.

In the meantime, I've posted a blog article on some of the tools that are essential for this level of refit. 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit: Tools of the Trade

Stay tuned!

Cheers,

Re: Future Brown Water Cruiser: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit

Well, the cabin top is looking very good but, unfortunately, I found a problem with some aluminum work I had done back in 2008. Check out the latest article on my 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit: Longboarding the Cabin Top...and a surprise.

More to come this week. Stay tuned.

Cheers,

Re: Future Brown Water Cruiser: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit

I've been so busy with the Roamer I haven't had time to write blog articles. Dang day job doesn't help the situation much, either.

Anyway, I got caught up over the weekend, so here's the first installment of several I'll be publishing this week:

1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit: De-SMIB-ifying the Helm Door Opening

Next is PAINT!

Thanks, zeehag!

Today's article is on rough cutting the toe rail, which--odd as it may sound--has to be installed and clear-coated before we can paint the decks and hull.

Re: Future Brown Water Cruiser: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit

Thanks, zeehag. You know...if you had a powerboat you could get here faster.

Just sayin'...

In other news, my latest article is about priming the decks. This is another one of those big moments I've been waiting for since 2008. It's been multi-colored since we sandblasted, so getting it back to one color (even if it's primer) is a great thing.

Check it out: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit: Priming the Decks

Re: Future Brown Water Cruiser: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit

OK...for the last time...I transformed the tent again so we can do the final priming and paint. There must have been ten pounds of dust coating the inside of the old plastic film when I cut it off!

1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit: Transforming Tent Model IX (again)

Stay tuned!
