Finding a Gas Adapter that Doesn't Exist !

I just ran a new gas line for my stove. Both ends are 3/8" female flares, because this is the US, and that's just what everything is. The problem is my stove was manufactured in the UK, so the inlet is a 5/16" compression fitting.

Where on Earth can I get an adapter? West and Defender of course have nothing but 3/8", since that's the standard size in the US. Plumbing supply place looked at me like I was from another planet when I said 5/16" McMaster Carr, who stocks 1000s of parts didn't have it.

After the ordeal I went through, just to find a 3/4" elbow for my head, I'm thinking buying a new stove may be easier than finding this part.

Dozens over this side of the pond mate, though that probably doesn't help much.

You could try these folk, they may post to the US. Very reliable chandlers or I wouldn't recommend them. The don't do on line because its a family run biz so not worth there while as most of there trade is local (me )

Thanks...found it! Seems the only way is to drive all over the place until you actually find a brass/plumbing supplier who actually stocks more parts than Depot or Lowes.

I'm going through a similar exercise...my new force 10 has a 3/8" flare and I'm in Leb where they have no such thing....at least not that I've found yet.
Makes me wonder why mfgs don't consider international customers when not supplying addapters...have the same problem with the solenoid valve.
Glad you found the part...last resort for me is generally a trip to the machine shop.

This is a good experience for you. You'll need these skills when you try to fill your propane bottles in exotic ports.

James, if you posted sooner we could have just traded stoves, and we'd both be golden. What drives me nuts is it's a US built boat, sold primarily in the US. Why the hell do they feel the need to us a UK built stove?

Wha!!! Propane tanks have different valves in different parts off the world?

Yep..and some places propane is hard to find and butane rules.

But according to Nigel Calder, the butane pressure is less than propane pressure, so filling a propane tank with butane is OK (but NOT the other way around). Don't know how different the burners might be, though.
