Not cheap, but this will get the job done right:

Pres-N-Snap Installation Tool

You can get grommet dies for them also.

Re: Canvas snap pliers

The press and snap are great, I go throu about 1 pair a year., Hugo also set a few thousand snaps before they go bad, the shaft wears on the aluminium housing and they begin to stick.. for normal use, they would last alifetime.
Best.price was at perfect fit MC Donald online....

Yeah, nice unit, but I wont be doing enough to justify $150. Wondering about the pliars type... tired of trying to align the little punch and die I have....

Re: Canvas snap pliers

I have tried a bunch of different cheap snap tools. My garbage can is full of them.

You can buy a $20-$30 dollar tool every year for the next 10 years or just spend the money now.

I know its a lot of money, but you will never buy another pair. Just think about all the swearing you will not have to do.

Keep looking. I just bought a Fas-snap benchtop machine off Craigslist for $100. Brand new, came with 11 new dies. The machine and dies are worth about $500.
I tried it with my stock of snaps, and it works fine.

Those will drive you crazy. If you do not want to spend the money for a professional tool you are better off with just the plain cup and set type. I know it says not recommended for stainless, but if you are looking to change a snap or two every now and then they will work fine.
