Sailing around Corsica (40° North) in July, we used the bimini every sunny day. When beating to windward or flying the spinnaker, we had to fold back the fore part, in order to better see the sails. Even this way, I had to dip in the sea while underway, to cool down.

Keep your bimini, it's as necessary over there as oilies in Brittany.
