Bilge Pump Won't Turn Off

I have recently found that my bilge pump becomes activated when healing. However, it does not turn off even when there is no heal. When I toggle the Auto/Manual switch to manual and then back to Auto it turns off straight away. Clearly its not a problem with something stuck in the float activator. Any ideas? Thanks Phil

Hi. Im not sure. But you may want to supply the brand, type and what type of auto activation it has float etc... How is it wired?

My first guess is the float switch. If it really is a mechanical float switch, try unbolting it. Try to repeat the failure by tilting it and returning upright. If you get it to fail see if mechanical action fixes it (shake it).

If it is a solid state switch, then I'd be even more suspicious of the float switch, try cleaning it then manually tilt it, put it water, lift it out. Try to recreate the failure.

Has to be in the float switch circut somewhere.

Is the float switch in line with the keel wood. That way the switch will only rise with water, not the angle of the boat. It also may need to be cleaned. Debris will make it stick.............................._/)
