Yanmar has the Shakes

I have a 3JH4E also and it shakes like hell at an idle (brand new). But kick it up to 700 rpm's and it smooths out. That's one of the reasons I put in a Pythondrive, so the motor can dance all it wants and not affect the seals or tranny bearings.

The exhaust has a mixing elbow that is usally good for three years. Once it 'cokes' you loose rpm, hp, fuel economy and will see a sheen on the water when you first start. Just saying....

I think you need to change "years" to hours.

Mine is already 3 years old but only has 300 hours and there's no carbon build up yet.

The picture you posted, does it have 300 hours on it there? Do you wax and polish it in your spare time? It looks immaculate.

At that time it had 150 hours but it still looks just as clean today. I'm a Maintenance Machinist so all my equipment looks nice. This mill is 13 years old and was used to build a lot of stuff for the boat.

Update. Bad injector was the problem. Had all 3 cleaned and tested and one required a new nozzle.

I have been teasing Del about that motor for years but he knows its really envy...a clean ship is a happy ship. But NOW he he shows us the milling machine. Who among us wouldn't like a tool like that in the shop. Oh the humanity!

It kind of ironic, just last week I had to replace the injectors on my 7.3L diesel truck because of a shutter between 1000 and 1800 RPMs.

Oh, and the mill is sold now with 95% of the rest of the shop. Now I have to scratch a beg like the rest of you to get any more parts made.

Have you found a spot in HI? Oh and how bout that plotter that failed? Wouldn't think you have too much more to do.

In HI, I may just stay aboard and gunk hole if I have to. I think I need to get a local yacht club membership.
The plotter has been replaced now. I'll do some SF sailing to proof it.
Just need to add some solar panels and buy a good sea anchor and some fresh cranking batteries before heading out.
