ISM 103-10 is base for Perkins Perama M30 & VP 2030.
I believe ISM 103-07 is base for 2cyl versions.

I have a 103-10 radiator cooled unit in my garage with 285 hrs on it.
Starts & runs like a top.Been keeping it in case my old VP 2003 dies.
A friend marinzed one of these in 2005,by buying the manifold casting, less the core, for <$400Cdn.He used his existing Heat exchanger & belt driven RW pump.Been running fine. Good engines-used in many industrial applications as well as marine.

Re: Who Built My Volvo?

I just got a response to my query, about our MD22L-B from Sheri at TAD Inc which is where colemj sent me ( Thanks again Mark) Her understanding is that on our engine the only thing they would stock are the internals, none of the exterior extraneous parts, like fuel delivery, or cooling systems. I question the fuel part, so I asked her to respond to that part of the engine, and will hopefully find out this week or next.

Re: Who Built My Volvo?

Thanks deblen for the schematic info. from that it appears I have a MD22L-A not a B. though when I gave my serial 3 to Volvo they said it was a B. Anyway it doesn't matter as long as you can get the right info for the parts. Thanks again! regards Mike
ps not trying to high jack thread! just thanking any one for info put out there!!!

I wouldn't bother using marinepartsexpress for Volvo parts. I paid for a bunch of parts to overhaul an MD22L-B and they took over 2 months to delivery a lot less than what I paid for. Full of excuses when they do eventually reply to emails and I still haven't received a refund for the parts they failed to deliver.

Re: Who Built My Volvo?

Actually, the -31 volvo is a VM engine.

I do not know whether the -41 also is but it would stand to reason.

Re: Who Built My Volvo?

Sorry Ifabio, you're mistaken about the 31 series VP engine. It's not a VM Motori engine, but a home grown Volvo Penta model, along with the 41 series. Back when they were in production, I've stood in the plant in Vara, Sweden and watched then come down the production line. (See earlier post in this thread)

The Italian VM Motori engine was used by Mercruiser for some time, and also by Chrysler in their minivans, but never by Volvo Penta.

Re: Who Built My Volvo?

Doug, for reference, that was straight from the horse's mouth - at both companies. It is of course possible that they were both mistaken .

There could be several explanations, of course.

They "got his ear" and maybe wanted to "twist his arm."
