IMHO, the last GOOD yanmar. I have one as a genset + with over 6,000 hours. It belt drives its own water pump">raw water pump, 100 Amp Leece Neville alternator, Tecumseh refrigeration compressor and a 5KW generator, but not all at the same time. It can be hand started as it has compression release.
Yes, it vibrates a bit, much more than my Perkins 4-236, but it only needs to work 30 minutes, twice a day when sailing or at anchor.
Compared to the new, light weight, high speed yanmars, it is a gem.
