Westerbeke Mitsubishi parts

I have a westerbeke 8kw BTD 3 cylinder Mitsubishi diesel engine. Before I pay $350 to westerbeke for a circulating water pump I thought I would ask the board if anyone knew of the Mitsubishi tractor part number or where I could buy the proper pump
I will have to say westerbeke is insane on their prices of parts

I have one that came off a Mitsubishi 33-A. Can let you have it for $200.00 plus shipping. PN is 48080. I don’t know how to post pics here..

You have to find out which Mitsu engine it is and for this you need to look up the number that is on the block, near the governor, not on a plate. Honestly, its not worth it... I went that route and even bought the right Mitsu parts manual to no avail... It ain't easy to find Mitsu tractor parts in North America and apparently much easier in Europe, but then the price differential is a wash.

In your case, it would not help anyway - find out which pump it is and either rebuild or try to source it from somewhere else. Westerbeke does not make anything, they just marinize a Mitsu engine (sometimes others) and paint it red. But having said that, I have one on my boat and had on my previous, super good engines.

Re: Westerbeke Mitsubishi parts

My experience with the same Westerbeke engine has been that Westerbeke has a habit of changing the parts slightly so the OEM Mitsubishi parts don’t fit.

Be careful, you may end up buying two pumps... one for $200 and then a second for $350. Even the impeller in the waterpump was Westerbeke specific.

My research suggests that this motor is a k3d. I take your point about westerbeke changing some small item.

Ive heard mention that the Indian Tractor company, Maharatsu, or some thing like that is the same engine as the Westerbeke, 30B,
Not sure of the spelling.

Re: Westerbeke Mitsubishi parts

If you have a K3D, then you could go with Westerbeke 030591

For 338.00 and red paint

Westerbeke, Pump, Fresh Water, 030591

Or aftermarket

for 36.00

https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Water-P...-/112507124570

Or essentially any price point you choose in between.

Generally speaking, the parts that are 'tweaked' by the marinizer are those that are added in the marinization, of which the freshwater pump is (usually) not.

It could be looked at as a '40.00 experiment' to save 300.00...

That happened to me a couple of weeks ago those dicks at westerbeke used a standard Sherwood water pump">raw water pump and modified it's base to fit their own mounting system. There was simply no need for the modification they made.
I bought a Sherwood and had to make the same modification to make it fit.
But at least Westy didn't get my money this time.
