Hope i worded this correctly.
Both Volvo and Yanmar
make "reverse" saildrives. As in
"Designer may place the engine either forward or aft of the propellor."
So the (too) short answer is "YES" - should be possible
Nothing wrong with reversing the leg. Note: Does it fit at all ?
center of gravity shifts and (in the usual cramped boat environment) normal maintenance
may turn to be even more of a chore (and some "minor" details).
Volvo mounts the saildrive to the engine so imho question is: Which SAILDRIVE do you own?
Saildrive can be installed with engine facing either forward or rear.
I have seen them Volvos mounted both ways (but not done it myself).
I'd guess at least you'll have to change the seal (O-ring rubber and metal) as well.
