OMC Zephyr Sail Drive replacement options

Hello all,
my friend has a Hughes 31 with a 1980 OMC 15 HP Zephyr sail drive which needs an overhaul. Problem is the availability of parts.
Therefore we are thinking of replacing it with a more current engine and drive.

Any suggestions and recommendations appreciated.

I have a Paceship PY26 that had an OMC Zephyr in it at one time. Somewhere along the line a previous owner pulled out the saildrive and hung an outboard off the back. I purchased a use OMC saildrive to convert it back as the mount was still in the boat, unfortunately the engine was seized, so I began looking at an alternative engine for the drive. Here is a link to my thread on what I have come up with. Finally getting down to the last stages of my conversion, so hopefully soon I should be able to let everyone know how it all worked out.
