OM 636 Parts/Schematic/Service Manual

My new to me boat has an OM 636 mercedes diesel, it needs a few gaskets to fix some oil leaks (valve cover, oil pump, etc.) but I'm having a hard time locating a US Based distributor -- I found the folks in the UK and they can ship here, just wondering if anyone knows of a US based distributor for these old mercedes engines

I can find the owners manual, but not the service manual online -- does anyone have a PDF copy?

Look at peachparts.com and thedieselgiant.com both specialize in Mercedes diesels. I have a newer engine (in my car) and have found them to be a great source. They might be able to show you the way to the info that you are looking for.

Every now and then I see a manual for sale on eBay for that engine. I have a manual that's falling apart and might be able to copy a few pages if you have specific questions.

I used a bunch of used parts from a Thermo-King boneyard in Texas to get mine back in order, plus parts from Australia and, of course, the UK folks (Westfield). Thermo-King used the engines in their refrigeration units many years ago.

I don't know if the Texas based company still has parts but here's their old info:

You might check with Thermo-King in your area for parts they may have leftover.

Just saw a Service Manual for the OM636 on eBay. $30

Had one of these in my last boat (Trident Voyager).
Mine was made in Spain, so I wrote to Mercedes in Spain and they sent me parts micro-fiches.

With those in hand I was able to order parts for the base engine from a local Mercedes dealership. I also ordered the service manual from the dealership. I re-built mine due to low oil pressure, but the only real problem turned out to be a scored aluminum oil pump housing.

My conversion had a bowman heat ex changer which was available from Bowman in the US.

I also purchased a new water-pump and fuel lift pump from:

While we were cruising in Europe.

That was in the mid 90's.

The new owners of that boat are still cruising.

I have a Nanni modified OM636. I need the mixer on the exhaust end of the exhaust heat exchanger, any ideas?

I had exactly the same issue and found Westfield in the UK to be an excellent resource for parts and advice. Its an engine worth the effort.
