More Horsepower needed.

We have recently purchased a secound hand 9foot Caribe RIB . I really wanted a 8 foot rib but the one we got was a real bargain so i bought it. My problem is that i have a 4 hp Mariner 4 stroke which just about gets the caribe on the plane {with only me in it } but not quite. As the 4hp Mariner is the same as the 5and 6 hp minus carburettor adjustments i was wondering if anyone on the forum has uped the horsepower by changing the Carburettor and how successful was it.

You might be more successful installing a flatter pitched prop. Upping the HP usually means higher rpm, and you are probably way below that now.

Thanks , I have tried that .made no difference .i need to get the boat on the plane before i can start changeing props so i need more HP.
