I've found that Yanmar and their dealers protect their territory. Could use some real competition if you ask me. I just paid $85 Can. for a manual for the SD-20 saildrive, that was a photocopied piece of crap.

depends on where you live. marinedieseldirect ships to midwest and some eastern states but not to georgia or florida.

Yanmar seems to have divvied up north America to various distributors. I like Torrensens but they aren't allowed to ship to certain areas. In any event I don't think you'll get a good deal on parts anywhere. Just be thankful you don't have a Volvo.

Remember we have a Yanmar dealer that is one of our esteemed members, and gives out information freely here on our site. Why not use him. Pat/"Never Monday" and is a very honest and good mechanic. And no he does not pay me to say this

Thanks Denny!

A few points to clarify. Yes the country is divided amongst distributers, that then have dealer networks.
Torrenson is not a distributer, they like my self are just dealers.

Where are you and what are you looking for?

I'd like to add my vote of confidence in Pat. All maintenance parts for my Yanmar main and Mastervolt genset came from him. I couldn't ask for better service and support than Pat provides. If I could convince him to relocate to Annapolis he would be perfect. <grin>

Dear Pat,

I need some help with transmission parts. I'm in Mexico right now so I don't know if you could help me.
My marine gears are Kanzaki KM3P (Yanmar 3JH3E) and I have just changed the drive cones but after a few hundred hours one of the gears is already "sliding" again in forward. Should I change the large gear too?
Could you send me the parts?

Thanks in advance!

that would depend on the condition of the gear. What were the clearances when you had it apart? is the shifter adjusted per the Yanmar FSM?

If your on the Gulf side of MX. Get with Mastry out of St Petersburg. Pacific side. I'd try Bosun's(sp) Locker in San Diego.

Thanks for your fast reply!

I don't know what the clearance was, as the service was done by the authorized Yanmar service in Trinidad & Tobago. They changed the drive cones and the shifters, but not the large gears.

I'm in the Pacific side of Mexico heading to Cabo San Lucas. So I will try to contact the San Diego agent you've sent me.

What other parts do you think I should order beside the large gear and collars? This time I will try to do it myself (useing the service manual....

Thanks again for your kind help!

She is coming down to Cabo in a few weeks.

Thanks,
