This unit was made in Ireland, the company is no longer in business...but I found a guy who is going to send a shop manual to me.

I too have a Hydromarin system and I'm having trouble figuring out what it is or how to trouble shoot a problem.

I would very much like to find out about your shop manual.

I just thought I would post an update.

I received a manual for the Farymann-Hydromarin unit.

The schematics are rudimentary and a couple of the parts don't match up with the numbers.

The good news is that with a little persistence, an understanding customer (time) the vessel was launched today with a succesful sea trial.

For the most part, these units are very dependable.

The problem with this unit was that the shaft locked up due to a poorly done repair on the shaft coupling pins that rusted away.

I used a local Hydraulic repair company (that really hosed me on the cost for new seals). They said they would give me an estimate and didn't. Needless to say, they had me by the "short curlies". I didn't mark up the repair price.
The customer got it at my cost....which was unconsciable for about 3 hours work. I'll find an old hydraulic pump somewhere and take it apart myself...
thus goes the learning curve.

The good news is i do have a hydraulic hose company that has always treated me quite well....they have all the fittings you may ever need. They are a small operation....but you don't pay the high prices that some of these guys charge.

Yhe links for the hydromarine unit would not download.

The other Farymann links were for engines only

The Hydromarine Manual that I got is very rudimenatary....does not go into any detail on the inner workings of the pump or motor.

It is not a manual that a do it yourselfer could use unless you had a working knowledge of how a system worked

The links worked for me.

I downloaded the manual and looked at it. It is very similar to the manual I got with the boat. Very poorly done! Also, these don't appear to refer to my unit.
My system is appears to be an S33 pump unit driving a "Volvo" (now parker) bent axis hydraulic motor. the pump is married to a perkins 4108.

I finally figured out what the motor was and rebuilt it this last summer. I need to go through the pump but would like to know what it is before I do. I have a handwritten note from the guy who had the boat built that appears to refer to the pump as a Sundstrand type 18. I am thinking that perhaps Hyrdomarin took an off the shelf Sundstrand type 18 pump, and marinized it by putting it in a cast aluminum enclosure and adding coolers. Can anybody confirm this? I guess I'm concerned that when I tear the pump down, I find something that needs to be replaced, and no parts. Plus, I'm not an engineer, mechanic or any other profession that would help. I'm just a guy with a boat and a hydraulic system that nobody wants to work on, at least where I live.

what do you all think?

but the Volvo Pump that was on mine was a standard unit.

The Oil Cooler was on the pump itself.

Fortunately, I did not have to remove the engine/pump assembly

If I had to, I would have pulled it out as a unit....Pan and all and set it up on a bench.

I was not happy with the way I was treated by one outfit who did the servicing. i.e. said they would call me with an estimate...they didn't and suddenly (after 10 days) they said it was on the bench (3:00 pm) and I get a call at 8:30 the next morning saying it's done. When I asked about the estimate all I got was a lot of BS. When I asked the price the went. and I quote...."Uhhhhhhhh five hunnert dollars>>>Yeah Five hunnert"

Ballistic (in my mind) is not the word......

I want that kinda job $500 dollars for 2 hours work.....

Any how I ran across another company that came with great references...from other wrenches in the field
