Engine oil MIA

While running engine at dock engine alarm came on. Shut it down and visual checks were ok but when I checked oil level it was barely reading on stick. More detailed visuals turned up no hose or gasket leaks. Engine is Perkins T-6.3544. I only have run engine a total of 6 hours since changing oil. After checking Nigel Calders book it points to the oil cooler discharging oil through exhaust but gives no data on what to do with it when I pull it. Check for corroded stack and clean for sure. Anything else I should look for if indeed this is my problem? Should i pull the gearbox oil cooler also and perform same remedies?
Any other suggestions before I pull the above items?
Thanking you in advance

Re: Engine oil MIA

If you don't have air (pressure) you could use water pressure to pressure test either one of the coolers. A little soap will help. You can probably test either side, oil or water.
