Convert Yanmar 2GM20F Genset to Sailboat Engine ?

Can I convert or add parts to a yanmar 2GM20F engine that was used as a generator to use as a sailboat inboard? any idea how many parts and how much it would cost to convert?

thanks!

Different flywheel, different speed control, different bellhousing.

It can be done but you are asking for trouble.....Going from a constant speed mode to a variable speed operation.....

This is something that we "wrench turners" see all the time. People trying to get by on "the cheap" and ending up spending more money than they wanted to.......

It's possible but highly unlikely to be cost effective. Far too many changes must be made.

Buy an electric outboard to go with what you've got.
