Can't read engine hours Volvo MD 20/40D

Engine hours do not show up on the instrument panel

Has anyone else have or had this problem?

Check the Contrast on the display first.

I have to hold down my Multi-function button for more than 5 sec to adjust the contrast.

This was an occasional problem with the old tach/ LED display, and as I recall there isnt anything that you can do to fix the display. There is no contrast adjustment on those tachs.

The best thing to do is go to an automotive store and get a separate hour meter and hook it up to the ignition switch.

It's a different model Volvo but the display on my upper tach did not work, the lower one was fine. I sent it off to a place in NC and they replaced the display for $80. The memory is not part of the display so it was still counting hours.

All is fine now.

Is the led display on yours just for the engin hours?
Mine are individual tachs and led hour meter is in the bottom of the tach.

I have a Yanmar tach/engine hour meter. The meter was unreadable. The technician at Lauderdale Speedometer stayed that the led display becomes “burned out “ after 5-8 years of sunlight. Repair was a bit over $200 but I had it back in 3 days. Their number is 800-951-5123.
