Annapolis School Of Seamanship:Diesel Engine Classes

Anyone having experiences with those courses? They seem very professional but I'll be glad to have the opinion of somebody having actually followed the courses.

They look like a good idea, for someone in the Maryland area.

We went to the class a few years ago. Really helped when we replaced the engine in our previous boat , a westsail 32. I feel we got a lot of info for the cost. Helps with trouble shooting.

I offer to spend a few hours with a boat owner who is new to a recently purchased boat.

There are some reference materials I suggest.

We go over routine maintenance

And proper bleeding sequence (if diesel)

I answer a lot of what's this/that questions

Have a notepad ready.....Lunch is nice too......haha

I went to the Annapolis school of seamanship. I took the basic diesel course and the basic and advanced electrical. I really learned alot and recommend them.
I also took a week long diesel class with the wooden boat school in Brooklin Maine I really liked that one. 6 days room and board great instructor. Time to relax enjoy great company and get to sail some great boats after class. Fantastic setup. Just a very happy customer. I figured it was cheaper to go to Maine than to take the basic and advanced with Hotels in Annapolis. Recomend them both but enjoyed Maine more.

Thank you all. I think I'll do it someday before really starting the cruising life... and as I don't know Annapolis that will be a good pretext for a visit.. :-)

I think you need to give more than six hours before you give up on getting a response.

I just took the first level diesel class in March and thought it was excellent. I already knew a lot of the information but still learned quite a lot. It also brought it all together for me. They focus on troubleshooting problems. About half the second day is hands on exercises. The second level course (which I haven't taken yet) is all hands on. The instruction was interesting and well done. I even thought that I should have had my wife take the class with me! There were two couples in the class of 16 people. Everyone seemed to really like the class.

I live in Annapolis so there was no cost for lodging. There are numerous less expensive motels within 30 minutes of Annapolis. You don't have to stay at the Marriott Waterfront!

There was no bad intention on my part, I'm so sorry.
I was just kidding, I thought that was obvious....

In fact I appreciate very much all the help I'm getting in this forum in 2 month I have had already a lot of answers and I'm largely benefiting from the experience of others.

I'm very grateful for it.

I did the class last year. It's excellent (but expensive!). Highly recommeded.
