Yes, I got a quote from them for portlights
once, and it was way over the top. I would guess that a door from a breaker's yard in India
would be solid steel
, however, and weigh hundreds of pounds. The USCG does not permit
watertight doors in bulkheads required to be watertight under CFR 46, such as Sub-T boats carrying lots of passengers. One more reason for going Wharram
style in the accommodations, IMHO.
